Cosa succede se artisti, curatori e altri creatori possono prendersi il tempo di riconsiderare la loro pratica senza i vincoli della frenesia produttiva?
L’Onassis AiR (Artists-in-Residence) è un programma di un anno di ricerca artistica e residenza nato nel 2019, in cui viene offerto del tempo. Tempo per imparare, per scambiare, per andare a fondo facendo e disfacendo o non facendo. Senza vincoli di produzione di un risultato finale o di creazione, anzi focalizzandosi sul processo stesso.
Durante il lavoro e attraverso il programma, la cui residenza è situata nel centro di Atene, tutti i partecipanti possono interagire con altri alla pari, indipendentemente dall’età o da quanto siano realizzati. Con la missione di supportare il processo artistico mediante un ecosistema artistico non ossessionato dalla produzione gli artisti incontrano una comunità in cui si lavora, si pensa, e si cena assieme senza sforzarsi per il prossimo progetto, il prossimo debutto, la prossima opening. Una comunità che ha la capacità di fare pause, di ripensare a come ciascuno di noi funzioni e crei.
Onassis AiR supporterà: artisti greci ed internazionali, curatori, pensatori e lavoratori nelle discipline artistiche, che desiderano andare in profondità e riconsiderare o trasformare la loro pratica e metodologia senza obblighi o ristrettezze produttive.
Onassis AiR è stato ideato e verrà condotto da Ash Bulayev (direttore di Onassis AiR) e Nefeli Myrodia (produttore creativo e drammaturgo di Onassis AiR).
Ci sono diversi tipi di programmi che bisogna esplorare prima di candidarsi: programma Onassis AiR di pratica critica; programma di residenza Onassis AiR per curatori e artisti in residenza; residenze di scambio Onassis AiR; borse di studio Onassis AiR (Emergency Fellowships) etc.
Il supporto e le condizioni economiche sono dipendenti dal singolo progetto. I viaggi vengono rimborsati.

What if, artists, curators and other creators, could take their time to reconsider their practice without the constraints of the production frenzy?
Τhe Onassis AiR (Artists-in-Residence) is a year-round artistic research and residency programme born in 2019, which offers time. Time to learn, to change, or go deeper by doing and undoing or non-doing. Without striving for the production of a final outcome/ creation, but rather focusing on the creative process itself.
During your time through the programme and located in the urban centre of Athens, all participants can interact with each other as peers. Regardless of age or how accomplished they are. With a mission to support the artistic process, towards a less product-obsessed arts ecosystem, artists meet as part of a community who works, thinks, and eats together, without striving for the next project, the next premiere, the next opening. A community that has the ability to pause, to rethink how each one of us functions and creates.
Onassis AiR will support: Greek and international artists, curators, and thinkers working in time-based artistic disciplines, who wish to deepen, reconsider, or transform their practice or methodology, without the expectations and constraints of a production.
Onassis AiR has been designed and will be run by Ash Bulayev (director of Onassis AiR) and Nefeli Myrodia (creative producer & dramaturg of Onassis AiR).
There are different programmes’ strands that you need to explore before applying: Onassis AiR Critical Practices Programme; Onassis AiR (inter)national Curator & Artist-in-Residence Programme; Onassis AiR Exchange Residencies; Onassis AiR Emergency Fellowships etc.
Support and financial conditions depend on the project. Travels can be funded. Conditions apply.
